Introduction

Banbury Cricket Club is dedicated to the development of youth cricket. In recent seasons the youth section has expanded significantly and experienced great success in both local competitions and in supplying Oxfordshires County age group teams with a growing number of cricketers.

The Youth Section is very generously sponsored by local accountants, Whitley Stimpson. As a result of this sponsorship we are able to provide coaching both indoors in the winter and outdoors in the summer. We currently run 11 youth sides (3 in each age group) - Under 11's through to Under 15's - and one each at Under 9's & Under 17's sides as well as having two Girls Teams - Under 12's & Under 15's - and also offer a Multiskills training session for Under 7's. There are now over 200 youth cricketers who regularly receive training from qualified coaches within the club. The junior teams are in the Oxfordshire Cricket Board League, Oxfordshire County Cup, Ron Mauldsley Knockout Cup and Plate, and South Northants League.

In 2008 we were officially the BEST Youth Section, on the field of play, in Oxfordhire. The Under 11's lost the County final by one run. The Under 13s finished runners-up in their final. Our Under 15's finished off an unbeaten season by becoming County Champions for the first time.

Our coaching team includes 1 UKCC Level III, 10 Level II and 6 Level 1 either qualified coaches or studying towards their respective qualification. In addition, a number of our senior players have the old ECB Level 1 qualification. The coaches are members of the ECB Coaches Association and are fully insured.

Banbury Cricket club is currently in the process of collating evidence to submit to the English and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) to gain re-accreditation known as "Clubmark". Clubmark is a Sports England national charter standard for all sporting  clubs to illustrate that they are and effective, well managed and child friendly club.

Banbury Cricket club has now established strong links, not only with Oxfordshire but also with our adjacent First Class Counties, Northamptonshire, Warwickshire and Leicestershire. This provides our elite performers with the opportunity, though recommended Academy and Centre of Excellence trials thus ensuring an upward development pathway into the first Class arena.

New members are always welcome
