 Introduction

Banbury Cricket Club is dedicated to the development of youth cricket. In recent seasons the youth section has expanded significantly and experienced great success in both local competitions and in supplying Oxfordshires County age group teams with a growing number of cricketers.

The Youth Section is very generously sponsored by local accountants, Whitley Stimpson. As a result of this sponsorship we are able to provide coaching  both indoors in the winter and outdoors in the summer. We currently run 8 youth sides - Under 9's through to Under 17's as well as a Girls Team (entering the new Oxfordshire League in 2008) and offer a Multiskills training session for Under 7's. There are now over 200 youth cricketers who regularly receive training from qualified  coaches within the club. The junior teams are in the Oxfordshire Cricket Board League, Oxfordshire County Cup, Ron Mauldsley Knockout Cup and Plate, and South Northants League.

In 2007 the Under 11's retained both the Oxon and South Northants leagues (in 2006 they were the Northamptonshire Champions too). The Under' 13s finished runners-up in both the Oxfordshire League & Ron Maudsley Trophy Finals last year. Our Girls team (only formed in 2007) won their 1st ever tournament.

Our coaching team has 2 Level III (one of which is a level II Staff Coach), 5 Level II and 9 Level 1 ECB qualified coaches as well as a number of coaches currently studying towards attaining their UKCC2 coaching badge.  The coaches are members of the ECB Coaches Association and are fully insured.

Banbury Cricket club is currently  in the process of collating evidence to submit to the English and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) to gain accreditation known as "Clubmark". Clubmark is a Sports England national charter standard for all sporting  clubs to illustrate that they are and effective, well managed and child friendly club. Examples of information that Banbury Cricket Club need submit to ECB as part of this are: Child Protection Policies, Development Plans, Criminal Record Bureau checks (Police Checks) for coaches and staff working with children, accident and injury procedures and risk assesments. Banbury aims to be one of the first within Oxfordshire to achieve this award.

Banbury Cricket club has now established strong links, not only with Oxfordshire but also with our adjacent First Class Counties, Northamptonshire, Warwickshire and Leicestershire. This provides our elite performers with the opportunity, though recommended Academy and Centre of Excellence trials thus ensuring an upward development pathway into the first Class arena.

New members always welcome
